Danish Cog -- 14th Century -- "Skamtrup"
c
The reconstruction of this vessel diagram comes to us from a 14th century fresco which is located in the Danish church at "Skamtrup." The design of this vessel has a certain number of similarities to the earlier Viking Warships. It may be that the decorations found on the quarterdeck indicate that it is a warship. Neither the stern nor fore castles are an integral part of the ship's design. Note the rudder is hung from the stern post.
